Fun, Surprises and a Giveaway

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted. I've just been in a little funk and although I had posts in my head, I couldn't get them out of my head and onto a post. I missed You Capture for the first time since it started. That was huge for me. I love You Capture. I think it has made me a much better photographer. Before I would just take the picture. Now I think about it and I'm even getting good at editing.

I went to the Gary Air Show with my daughter and son-in-law. This is the third year I've gone and I love it. I am amazed at the skill of those pilots (yes, that plane is upside down). The show this year was a little shorter than before, but what there was was quality entertainment. We watch it from my son-in-law's grandpa's house. He is right on the water and his yard is terraced. We go up to the top level which is pretty much above the tree lines. It is a totally awesome afternoon of skill, good food, good friends and family.

We went to a Cubs game!!!!!!!! This is something that I have wanted to do since I was a little kid. The tickets were an end of the year gift from a very special and generous preschool family. The Cubs/Sox rivalry was a fun thing that I carried on with the son all spring. Imagine my surprise when he gave me an envelope after graduation and said "Here's your dumb Cubs tickets!". I laughed then almost passed out when I opened the envelope. They have no idea what that meant to me. It is something that I have always wanted to do, but would never justify spending that much money to do it. The same thing with Notre Dame tickets that I have gotten from other families over the years. I've always said that you have to love your job to work at a catholic school because you certainly don't do it for the money. I truly love my job. I think it is the best place in the world to work. While I don't make a lot of money, sometimes I get some amazing perks!
There are also perks to parenting. Maybe not perks, but really nice surprises. I got one of those surprises the other day. If you would to share in my pride and love, check out my daughter's blog. She is the best!
This is my 100th post! I love blogging. I never thought abut blogging before I met Beth and she introduced me to her blog and encouraged me to start my own. Thank you so much girl! I have met so many wonderful people through my blog. Some I have actually met in person and others I feel like I've known forever. It is an amazing thing. You all mean so much to me. I worry when you don't blog for a few days or weeks that something might be wrong. I get excited when you have weddings and new grandbabies. I worry when you have health problems and I'm proud when you accomplish things you've tried.
Now, in honor of this occasion, I'm giving away a $25.00 Visa gift card. Being it is my 100th post, I will draw a winner in 100 hours. That would mean I will draw a winner on Friday at 12:30 p.m. CST. All you have to do is leave a comment to be entered. Tell me how you found my blog or why you read it or anything else you'd like to tell me. What the heck, if you follow me, I'll give you an extra entry.

Lastly, I promise to get back on track with my posts. Weigh In's on Wednesday, You Capture on Thursday and everything else in between. Hope to see you all then leaving comments. I love comments.
p.s. I've gone back and tried to make paragraphs up there, but it won't work. Don't ask me why. They look like paragraphs in the draft. Of course, now that I wrote this, it will probably fix itself when I post it again. I never said I was techno savvy!

  1. CONGRATULATIONS on your 100th post!!!! I don't know how we hooked up with each other(through someone else's blog), but I am so glad we did. I have loved getting to know you better and we have lots in common. You have girls and so do I. Plus, you have been at the Catholic preschool for 16 years and I taught preschool for 16 years. We both love family and doing "family things". I'm with you on the techno skills. If it wasn't for my daughters encouraging and helping me, I would never have started blogging. I want to read your sweet daughter's blog listed above. I also get in a funk every now and then and just can't get the posts out. I read other's blogs, but just can't get mine written. I am supposed to get my market basket this week. Can you believe that we won? I'm so excited. Thanks!!! I had my first name put on mine.
I'm so thrilled that you got to attend the Cubs game. I know that was fun!!! The airshow looked amazing too. You are right, blogging is wonderful and I can't imagine my life without it. I have met so many amazing ladies just like you who I feel are my friends. I celebrate with you all over special achievements in your lives, cry at the computer when things are sad and just delight in all of the things I read and learn from all of you special ladies. God is good and blesses us with great friends in our lives!! I hope to meet you someday, as well as a lot of my other blogger friends. Wouldn't that be fun? Have a nice day and congratulations again on your 100th post!!!!
    Love & blessings from NC!

  4. Congrats on your 100th Post. I feel so honored to have met you thru this blogging adventure of ours. You are so special to me and I really really want to meet somewhere before summer is over. I miss you too when you don't post. I feel like we are all this big family and I love all my peeps. Your family is just precious and I look forward to seeing what everyone is up to. We love to go to air shows and use to go all the time in our younger years. Wow to getting the chance to go see the Cubs play. Looks like you had a great seat.
Thanks for the chance to win a great prize...How thoughtful of you to do this for us. I hope I get lucky....

  5. Congrats on your 100th post!!! I've been a blog slacker lately too!!!

  6. I DID miss you. Very, very much. But you're back and celebrating 100! I love your photos of the air show. They remind me so much of my Dad. We have an air show here in Rhode Island, not too far from where I live, and my Dad LOVED going to it. The practices go, literally, right over our house. It is fabulous... and I always think of my Dad. This is what blogging does. It strikes such wonder and such memories and such love from otherwise absolute strangers. I feel I know you more than many people in my life. Seriously. And the Cubs game! Again, my Dad was born in Chicago and he always talked about the Cubs. Hey... maybe we're related! Wouldn't that be something!!!! I am so happy you're back!!!!

  7. Congrats on your 100th post! :) Glad you're back!

  8. First of all, congrats on 100th post!!! I would love to win the Visa card!

Thanks for suggesting The Shack. I read it last fall and even went to a Bible Study on it. It was a great bible study!

Glad you are back. I always read other posts, even when I don't feel like posting myself. Sometimes, it's just what you have to do!

Thank you so much for all the sweet comments you make on my blog!!!

  9. One hundred posts! I'm so impressed and I hope I follow in your shoes someday. I missed you while you were away and I'm glad you're back. Your 100th post was a doozy. I visited your daughter's wonderful post about her parents so that I could cry a little. It was so touching. And I envied you your wonderful position for watching the Gary Air Show. You sure took advantage of it by taking some fabulous pictures! And Mr. Right will envy you your trip to the Cubs/Sox game and more good pictures. And then I envied you having a job that you love so much. All this envy is good stuff. It only means that I'm very happy for you on each count! Keep up the good posting!

  10. Hi sweet friend!

Congrats on your 100 posts anniversary! did we meet? I can't really remember. Can you? Oh well, it really doesn't matter. I'm just glad we did.

I know what you mean about getting blogger to cooperate...sometimes I have to fight with it to get it to work right. FYI...if you click on the edit html tab and then seperate the paragraphs and then click back to the compose tab it works. Not sure why. That's how I get my way sometimes. Hope it works for you.

Great photos today, by the way.

George is a BIG BIG BIG Notre Dame fan. He would be jumping up and down if someone gave him tickets.

Enter me in the contest please. I'd love to win.

  11. Hi there!

Just hopping over from the "I Should Be Doing Laundry" blog! Congrats on your 100th post! I just started blogging and hope to reach 100 someday! LOL!

  12. I'm glad you loved your market tote. My husband called tonight to say that my package came today(Monday). I can't wait to see it!!! I still can't believe that we both won! I hope you had a great day. I had a lazy day in the mountains at my sister's. It was 60 degrees when we came inside tonight. I'm loving these cool breezes!
Your daughter's post about you and your husband was awesome!!! What a sweetheart. I got all teary eyed just reading it. I can just imagine how you felt. What a great tribute to you guys as parents. That says it all. Have a great day tomorrow. Love & blessings from NC!

  13. Congrats on your 100th post!! I am not sure how I found you, probably through Beth's blog! ;o)
