Vickie's Chickies

I have a friend. A very good friend named Vickie. She is one of those friends that everyone should have. She would do anything for you, no matter the cost to her. She is in a real fight right now and myself and some other friends are helping in any way we know how.

One of those ways is to walk with Vickie in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in October. You see Vickie's fight started almost six years ago with breast cancer. She did really well with that fight and we thought we won. Little did we know that last summer, her cancer would come back in her lungs. She is doing really well so far and we would like to fight to do everything we can to help keep it that way. Research is such a powerful tool.

There is a way you can help us. We are raising money for the walk. We would like our team to come in first place for fundraising. One of our moms at school is a Lia Sophia jewelry representative. She has offered to have a book party for us and give us her 30% commission.

Here is how you can help us.

For Online Orders: Go to www.liasophia.com/jessicadgage and then to the jewelry tab at the top. When prompted for hostess name, enter Vickie’s Chickies, shop using the online catalogs, then proceed to checkout. It’s very easy.

In order for Jessica to close the party and get her 30% commission to us by our walk on October 17, this will have to be a short sale. All orders, online and on paper will need to be placed no later than September 30.

I'm counting on any of you who can to help us. Vickie has been fighting for a long year with things thrown it that no one fighting that fight should have to deal with. Her dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer and her mom had knee replacement. Very unexpectedly, she lost her mom when she fell at her home and suffered a head injury. She has been through too much.

I hope you can help us. Thank you so much for your support. It means everything!

You Capture / Flowers

You Capture kept me very close to home this week.
The first three pictures are from my own yard.
They are the last things to bloom.

The last five pictures were taken at the school/church where I work.
Most of them were taken at the sunken garden.
I couldn't pass up the one of the grandkids.
The looks on their faces is priceless.

Whenever I see two butterflies or birds, I always think of James and Jake.
I thought this was a most fitting picture for my You Capture.

If you'd like to see some of the last blooms of summer, you better head over to Beth's.

Ladies Night Out

Thursday was the Ladies Night Out fundraiser for my school where I work. It is a fun night of fashion, food and vendors. The dress code is usually jeans, nice top of some kind and classy shoes. This year I went all out. I bought new jeans, jacket and shoes. My first animal print. The first picture is before we left. Obviously being it is in my bathroom. I couldn't get a good whole body shot, but you get the idea. The second shot is my cool shoes. They don't look as high as they actually were because they are sinking in the carpet. They were 4 inch and a new high for me. The last shot is at the end of the night. Those are two of my daughters. The hair is flat and I am carrying my shoes. I never put them back on to leave. I walked through the parking lot barefoot. My feet were that sore. It wasn't really the heel height that got me though. It was those round toes. My poor little piggies were squished in there. It was a fun night though and my toes have recovered.

You Capture / My Choice

Sunday I had the privilege of walking in the MS Walk in Hammond.
This is my awesome team.

Blogger is acting up again and it's late, so you'll just have to trust me that it was a great day and there are stories to go with the pictures, but it would be too hard to tell without being by the picture it goes with. Does that make sense? Like I said, it's late.

Now it time for you to go to Beth's and check out all the other captures this week.

Making Strides

Today, I am kicking off my fundraising for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. It is October 17th and I am hoping to raise at least $300.00.

This walk is very close to my heart. I feel it is one of the most important walks I do. One of my very best friends is battling cancer. It all started with breast cancer almost six years ago. She was doing great for so long and then last summer it came back in her lungs. She is doing very well right now and I would like to do anything and everything I can to make sure she stays that way.

Two of my favorite blogging friends are breast cancer survivors. I do this walk for them too.

If you could, would you please make a donation to support my efforts to raise funds to fight this awful disease? It can be as small or large as you want. I will be so grateful for any amount. If you can, just click on the icon under my profile picture and it will direct you to my Making Strides page.

Thank you so much! You are the best!!

You Capture / Signs

This is the sign that I captured. It's where I spent my Sunday at a benefit. We had a great time.

These are the signs that I wanted to capture. I took these last summer, but I could have taken them on Monday if I hadn't said I would babysit the grandkids while their mommy and daddy and aunt and uncle went to the game. My son-in-law offered me the tickets first. The things we do for our kids!!!

Signs, signs, everywhere signs, but especially at Beth's.

Through the Years

Today is our 37th wedding anniversary.
I have a million irons in the fire tonight.
I don't have the time for a big long post about us.
As I sit here typing, I'm listening to Dick snore from two rooms away.
And after 37 years, it still annoys the crap out of me!
But, I do love him. More now than I did at the beginning.
I can't imagine my life without him.
Here are a few pictures from the last 37 years.
I can't decide if they are more fun or funny to look at.
There are some oldies!

My MS Walk

On September 12th, I will be walking for Multiple Sclerosis. My team is called Motivated Spirits and our leader is a wonderful lady who just found out last year that she has MS. If you would like to help me raise funds for MS, please head over to my page and donate. No donation is too small or too big. Thank you so much. Here's the link...

Look Who I Get To Meet!

I am beyond excited for November 18th to come. I am going with some friends to hear Ali Vincent speak. She was the first ever female winner of the Biggest Loser. I loved her when she was on the show and I love her on the Biggest Loser wii game.

I need to hear her story from her. I need her experience and knowledge. I need her inspiration.

I just ordered her book from Amazon. I didn't know she had written a book. I wonder if I take it with me that night if she would sign it?

I feel like I am on a good phase of my journey to weight loss and fitness. I want to be healthy and happy. I feel like any tool that I can find to help me is a good thing. I think Ali will be a good thing.

I just wish I didn't have to wait two and a half months to hear her. That's okay. I'll see how much more weight I can lose before I meet her. I can guarantee you there will be a big old post after that night!

You Capture / Morning

The first things that I found awake on Sunday morning were these two cute little guys.

Not too much later, this little sweetie woke up.

And not much after that, we started baking.

We had a fun morning before heading to church (where we saw Beth and her family) and then having the whole family over for a birthday party and cookout.

Check out what goes on in other peoples mornings at Beth's.
p.s. I am at work and doing this on my lunch and the spacing for the pictures is weird and I don't have time to figure it out. Sorry!
