Going Random

It is getting to be that time of year when things start going 90 mph at school.  Pancake breakfasts, Mother's Day presents, Preschool Olympics, graduation.  The list goes on and on and that's just at school.  May is always a crazy busy month for everything, it seems.
Believe it or not, Jack turned two.  He had a wonderful time at his party and he got a Harley.  He loves that motorcycle.  Now, he can keep up with his sisters in their jeeps.

It is looking like I am going to be traveling the majority of July and I am very excited.  I'm 90% sure that I will be taking a trip to the east coast with one of my very best friends.  We will go to New York City for a few days to visit her brother and see some sights.  Then we'll meet up with some of her girl cousins for two days of NYC fun.  After that, we'll take the train to Maryland where she will meet up with her husband and dad for a family reunion.  Dick is going to drive in to meet me there and we'll go on by ourselves to who knows where for a week or so.  We haven't decided yet where we are going.  Possibly the Poconos or Williamsburg.  Then the last week of July, we'll go back to the lake in Cassopolis, Michigan with our kids and my sisters family like we did last summer.

We did some remodeling in the kitchen.  We got new countertops and dishwasher.  I painted and made new curtains.  It's all done in red and yellow and I love it.   I took some pictures, but I don't love them.  When I take some better ones, I'll post some.

Dick is on a fishing trip in southern Indiana.  He is having a good time.  Abby is going to Purdue after work Friday for one last time before Myles graduates next weekend.  I am looking forward to having the house to myself for a whole night before Dick gets home.

Last, but certainly not least, this little sliver of moon.  I love taking pictures in general, but the moon is always one of my favorite things to take.

Welcome to the Ultimate Blog Party 2012

Hi everyone!  Thanks for stopping by my blog party.  Come on in and grab a cocktail.  We serve Bacardi and diet with lime here.  Relax and enjoy your visit.

My name is Nancy aka Bacardi Mama.  I have been married to my husband Dick for almost 39 years.  We have four beautiful daughters.  Cindy is 37.   Katie and Sarah are our twins and will be 29 on May 1.  Abby is our baby at 24.  We also have three wonderful sons-in-law and one more to come in the next few years.  We love them all.  But....the absolute lights of my life are my beautiful grandkids, Lizzy, Jack and Natalie.  They melt my heart on a daily basis.  If you've never been here before and look around, you'll see they get a lot of my blog time.

I spend my days working in a preschool and I couldn't love it more.  At the ripe old age of 57, I have no plans whatsoever to retire any time soon.  It is the perfect schedule.  I leave by 7:30 and am home by 3:30.  The real plus is that I only work 180 days a year.  I love having the time off at holidays and my summers free.

I started blogging in January of 2009.  I had no idea what to expect.  What I found in the blogging world was wonderful.  I have made some absolutely amazing friends.  I have even become a contributing writer for the website The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans through blogging.

My passions are my family, my photography, the Chicago Cubs, Notre Dame football, social media and fitness.  I know it's an odd little mix, but it's me.

Thank you so much for stopping by at my party.   I hope you will stay for a little while and look around.   Please leave a comment, so I can stop by and visit you too.

You Capture / Easter

There were over 30 of us at my mom's for Easter.  We always have fun, but the best time of the day is the egg hunt.  We adults have finally given up the hunt and leave it to the little people.
Here is Natalie with her basket of goodies.
Lizzy got a little help from poppa reaching the higher up eggs.
Jack took some time out to taste some of his loot.
Last but not least, we have a little lilac pastel.

Check out the other captures at Beth's.

The Great Unveiling

Finally!  The kitchen is finished or at least as finished as it can be until we can turn the heat off for the summer (to paint the radiator) and take the door off (to paint) for a day.  Here are a random sampling of pictures of the kitchen in different light and times of day.  Boy, am I a dork or what?  I'm just so happy with it!!!  It turned out just like I hoped it would.
Isn't it awesome?!?!  If it wasn't for the vision of a very special preschool mom, I never would have thought of this color palate in a million years.  Love you, Gretchen!!

Opening Day

I got this one on Facebook, but it says it all...

You Capture / White

I was leaving school today and remembered that You Capture is on Monday and the subject was white.  Lucky for me, I always carry a point and shoot in my purse and there were some pretty white flowers to help me with the assignment.  Enjoy!
I'm sure there is lots of white over at Beth's.
