Weigh In #4

If you read my last post, you know I was struggling a little. I was reading something Sisterhood's very own April wrote and found an amazing quote. I posted it on my fridge with a very recent picture of myself. It's a lovely view of me walking away. It's not pretty, but it is quite inspiring.

My goal this week was to get my ten pound badge. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I only lost a pound. I keep telling myself that if I lose the weight slowly, it will stay off. Actually, lots of people have been telling me that. I sure hope it's true because it sure is coming off slowly.

So, this morning I was once again inspired by April. I was reading her weigh in post and it all made perfect sense. She was talking about switching up your exercise routine to keep your muscles confused and working. I have been doing several kinds of workouts, but they are always the same ones. This week I'll change that. I have workout video after workout video. Maybe it's time to start using all of them. Not maybe, it is time to use them. Maybe a different one each day. I'm hoping that along with my daily walking will give me the boost I have been looking for.

Well, that is the plan for this week. Wouldn't it be wonderful if it could just happen overnight? I know it won't, but it's fun to think about, right? It took me years to get to this size. I'm afraid that it might take years to lose it too. It's okay, I'm up for the challenge.

How are you doing? Are you struggling like me or are you breezing right along? Leave me a comment and let me know. I'd like to think that I'm not the only one struggling.

GO TEAM RED!!!!!

  1. One pound is awesome. I know it can be frustrating when the weight comes off so slow (trust me, I KNOW!) but you are consistently going in the right direction and I am proud of you!

  3. Nancy,
You are doing an amazing job. You consistently have solid losses, and you're working out! You can only go down and stay down if you keep up the way you are. And yes, it's so true that if you lose slowly, you're much more likely to keep it off.

Keep up the good work. I have a feeling it's not going to take you years, girl!!

  4. I think 1 lb. is great for summertime. With all the parties and things going on, it's so hard to stay on track.

  5. One pound is great, Mom! You're always welcome to take Noodle for a little while :) That's a big workout, lots of cardio. That's a smart idea to mix it up a little bit, too. Keep up the good work! Love you!

  6. Don't give up. Slow and steady wins the race! Mixing things up sounds like a good plan. I've stopped the Shred. My left knee bothers me when I do it. I hated to stop, but I don't want to mess it up even more. (There's parts I will continue to do though).

    Hugs!

  7. Congrats on the pound lost! Baby steps are the "weigh" to go but it always feels better to leap!

I switched from 30 Day Shred to Banish Fat and Boost Metabolism and it seems to have jumpstarted my losses again...I think switching up your routine is a great idea!

Keep up the good work and positive attitude!

  8. I have read every other comment, and I do agree with each of them. It is the solid 1-pounders that stay off. Your body is reacting the way it should react. I am always nervous when people announce giant weight losses. Often, their bodies and muscles cannot quite compute this and the pounds come back. I also agree that mixing things up does excite new muscles. I am now in Week 5 of my sprint triathlon training, and I thought I would lose 5-10 pounds with the swimming, cycling and running. I haven't. I have lost 2 pounds. But my body feels better. I have more energy and my muscles are more toned than they have been in years. It's not that I don't WANT to lose, but I am taking my own advice about building muscle and endurance and confidence for the long haul. You are an amazing inspiration to me and so many others, as you see in your comments. It's knowing that others are sticking to a plan and still loving life that make all the difference to me. Still loving life. That's what you do AND STILL LOSE AN ENTIRE POUND. That's what I need to read about!!!! Keep up the great work!!!!
