Today is a special day.
It's my husbands birthday.
We've been together almost 40 years.
We started dating in May of 1971.
We were quite the couple, don't you think?
I could never imagined back then how my life would be 40 years later.
But, we are still so much the same.
We still love each other.
We still have a good time together.
Family is still important.
Actually, it's more important.
We never could have known that we would be a family of 13 already.
The one thing we said way back then was that we wanted four children.
That's how many we had. Four beautiful daughters.
On this special day, I just want you to know how much I love you.
I hope that you love all your gifts.
But, I know the one gift that would totally make your birthday perfect is the one thing that I can't give you. All I can do is say a special prayer and cheer at your side and hope the Bears win the big game and go to the Super Bowl.
Happy Birthday Dick
Go Bears!!
Happy Birthday Dick... I will cheer on the Bears too! Have a great day!

ReplyDeleteHappy late Birthday, Dick. Sorry you didn't get your most desired gift but I'm sure your pain was mitigated by being surrounded by so many beautiful loving family members!
ReplyDeleteNancy, that was one fabulous picture of you two back in the day. You look just like your daughters. Great post.
Happy Birthday to your handsome hubby. Loved seeing the "old" photo. You look even better now.

Happy Belated Birthday, Dick. I'm so sorry about the Bears. I was heartbroken, too. I feel I know your whole family like I will be stopping over at your house for a beer to watch the Super Bowl! Nancy... I love the photographs and your words to Dick. I love your family. When I look at the photo of you two as "kids" I see your miracles in your eyes... they're already there... !! Wow. I hope this year is the BEST ever, ever! xo!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I love that you posted the photos of back then and now.
ReplyDeleteYou were too cute then and now. And has Dick always had a mustache all the years that you two have been together? My hubby grows his and shaves his and grows it and shaves it again :o)
And it is amazing to look back and try to imagine what you were thinking back then...about the future family you would have...and then forward to now and have the lovely family that you do.
Blessings & Aloha!
