September 8, 1973

Thirty six years ago today, I married the man of my dreams. I was eighteen years old. He was twenty one. Looking back, I can't imagine why my parents let me get married that young. I was one of the few girls getting married at eighteen that didn't have to. We just plain and simple wanted to be married. We had already been together for two years. I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a wife and mother. Those were my goals and I achieved them. We have four beautiful daughters. We have added three handsome sons-in-law and two adorable granddaughters. We even have a very special boyfriend who I don't doubt will be a son-in-law too one day. But, the best part of this all is that my husband is still the man of my dreams. Sure, there are days when I want to ring his neck. The good news is that at the end of the day, I still love him with all my heart. I can't imagine my life without him. I am truly blessed.

  3. Happy Anniversary Nancy!! Love the pictures. We were 20 and 21 when we married too! Great job staying married... we are becoming such a minority with the divorce rate so high. It's sad really. October 13th will mark 30 years for us! Congrats!

  8. Happy Anniversary!

My hubby and I just celebrated 10 years last month - couples like you are an inspiration for us to keep on loving each other even when we feel like wringing each other's necks. :) We were 24 and 27 when we got married.

  12. OMG Nancy, at first I thought it was Elvis when I first saw the picture of your husband! Sorry I am a day late in wishing you a Happy 36 years of wedded bliss. We have so much in common. I got married at age 18 also. We celebrated 35 years this summer. Like you said, we were in love and it was the thing to do and not because we had to get married. I think you make a beautiful couple and still look hot!

  13. Happy Happy Anniversary, one day late too! I should say, I guess, Happy Happy Honeymoon! Yeah, baby! It is amazing to look back at our lives and the decisions we made. You are two very, very blessed people to have had such love and joy and to be blessed with such beautiful, loving children and perfect little granddaughters. The photos are wonderful! My mom & dad and relatives began to think I was going to be, as they called it back then, and old maid. I was almost 24 when I got married... but I had escaped marrying a long-time (5 years) boyfriend who was absolutely the most wrong man for me in all the universe. Thank God. Along came Barry... and I met him in August of 1975 and married him in August 1976. I'm still on my honeymoon!! Congratulations on your special, special day!!
