Wednesday Hodge Podge

1. What's the first image that comes to mind when you hear the word 'spring'? Which phrase best describes the season of spring where you live right now (today)-sprung! almost there, or still waiting?

Definitely budding flowers and trees.  Here in northwest Indiana, we are somewhere between almost there and still waiting.  There is still snow on the ground, but it is getting warmer and the daffodils are starting to grow outside the preschool door at work.

2. Bed, couch, stapler, garage door, computer mouse, recliner, flashlight, door knob...which household item containing springs most needs replacing in your home? Speaking of springs...did you ever own a Slinky?

We need new family room furniture, so definitely couch and chair.  Of course I owned a slinky.  Didn't everyone?

3. March is Women's History Month. Share a favorite quote by a woman.

I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget the way you made them feel. -Maya Angelou

4. What's a question that looms large in your mind right now?

Oh, will we get everything done in time for our daughter's wedding????  I'm pretty sure we will, but I sure have my doubts at times.

5. Are you a sugar freak? By that I mean how much do you love sugar? With all the bad press sugar gets these days, have you made any efforts to reduce the amount of sugar you consume?

I can honestly say that I am not a sugar freak.  My problem lies with salt.  Give me the chips and salsa or potato chips any day.

6. Would you rather have less work to do or more work you enjoy doing?

I have finally gotten to the age where I would like less work to do, so I can enjoy the things I really want time for.  Things like my family, especially the grandkids and hobbies that I have put off for too long.

7. Ever been to Texas? Of the top ten Texas tourist attractions which would you most like to see-The Alamo, The San Antonio River Walk, The State Capital, Dallas World Aquarium, Padre Island National Seashore, Houston Space Center, Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels, Six Flags Fiesta Texas,  Moody Gardens, or Galveston Island?

I can honestly say that Texas is one state that I really have no interest in visiting, but if someone made me go, I'd want to go to the Houston Space Center.

8.  Insert your own random thought here...

I am getting very excited for my spring break from school.  I am taking a five day trip to Arizona with my youngest daughter, then home for a weekend get away with my husband.  It's going to be an awesome time!

Stream of Consciousness Saturday

I have a trip coming up in two weeks.  My youngest daughter Abby and I are going to visit a friend in Arizona for spring break.  We'll also be able to see my godmother and cousin while we are there.  I am very excited about this although I am a little conflicted.

Abby is getting married in July, so a trip together while she's still my little girl seems awesome.  The conflict comes with the money.  With the price of weddings these days, I have no business spending money on a trip four months before the wedding.  I also feel bad about leaving my husband behind, but we certainly shouldn't spend the money for both of us to go.  Truth be told though, I think he is looking forward to having the house to himself for five days.

Why should I feel conflicted, even guilty about this trip?  It's a chance in a lifetime to go with my girl and make some memories before she moves on with her life.  My baby is going to be a beautiful bride.  Where did that time go?  27 years seems like last week when she was born.  Abby is a beautiful, loving, talented, giving, spontaneous, happy, friendly, sweet, motivating, funny, grateful and sincere woman.  She is everything I ever wanted her to be.
So, screw the money!  It's only money.  I am going on this trip and I am going to have a wonderful adventure with my little girl.  I only have this chance once.  I'm not going to miss it.
Arizona here we come!!

p.s.  We are going to a Cubs spring training game.  Cross that one off the bucket list.  Thanks Shari!!!

I'm sure I ran over my five minutes, but I don't care.  Stop over at Jaime's and check out all the #SOC posts and join in, if you'd like.  It's really fun.

Wednesday Hodge Podge

1. 'In like a lion, out like a lamb'...does the first part of this saying describing March weather ring true where you live?
It sure does!  We woke up to sleet and freezing rain this morning.

2. March 4th is National Grammar Day. What common grammatical error bothers you the most?
Your and you're.  Drives me crazy.

3. William Arthur Ward says- 'The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.' Which one are you?
I think I'm a realistic optimist, but definitely not a pessimist.

4. What's something you need to 'march forth and conquer' this month?
My weight.  It's an ongoing process, but I have a vacation at the end of the month that I would like to look my best for.

5. An ongoing debate around here...do you dust first, then vacuum or vacuum first, then dust? Of the two routine household chores, which do you dislike the least? How's that for wording?
I think I would have to say vacuuming.  At least with that, I'm getting steps on my Fitbit.

6. According to thrilllist.com, the ten most photographed sites in the U.S.A. are- Cinderella's Castle in Orlando, Southernmost House in Key West Florida, The Space Needle in Seattle, The Site of the Boston Massacre in Boston, The Bellagio Lake/fountains in Las Vegas, The Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, Coit Tower in San Fransisco, The Art Institute of Chicago, Niagara Falls, and snagging the number one spot-The Guggenheim Museum in New York City.
How many on this list have you photographed? Which on the list would you most like to visit and photograph?
I have photographed three.  Some day, I would love to take pictures of Niagara Falls.  I can't believe that the Grand Canyon didn't make the list.

7. Fifty years ago Monday (March 2, 1965) The Sound of Music premiered at the Rivoli Theatre in NYC. Have you seen the film? Do you own a copy? On a scale of 1-10 how much do you love it (or not)? Ten=best movie ever. If you're a fan, what's your favorite scene or song from the movie?
I think I have seen the Sound of Music at least 100 times.  I had a copy that magically disappeared as the kids started moving out of the house.  I would give the movie an eight.  My favorite scene in the movie is when the kids come out in play clothes that Maria made them from the old curtains.

8. Insert your own random thought here:
We found out that our 5th grandchild is on the way.  The baby is due in October.  We are so excited!!!
